What is the main advantage of having sliding wardrobes versus standard hinged door wardrobes?

Why choose sliding wardrobes???

Postby admin » Wed Sep 08, 2010 9:27 am

Hi Merv,

In reply to your question:

Hinged door wardrobes are usually not wall to wall or floor to ceiling..because they have plinths to hold the doors up off the floor and often they'll have pelmets filling the space from the standard door height to ceiling. This is a big waste of space!! Sliding wardrobe doors start on your floor and go right up to the ceiling - So you get to maximize the space you have :) Also.. most hinged door wardrobes have in-fills at both ends of the wardrobe and often in the centre too. This is to keep the hinges away from the walls or for filling a gap left by standard size doors. RobeDesign designers will never waste your space !

We will design a sliding door wardrobe to suit your exact requirements and taste whilst also maximizing your storage space (at an affordable price)!!

Sliding robe

Postby Nessa » Wed Sep 08, 2010 12:04 pm

Im looking for an L Shaped sliding wardrobe for my teenage sons bedroom... The walls are 7foot & 6.5 foot long, will this be ok?

Also can you recommend doors ? He wants a modern looking one.. and doesnt like any of the woodgrain finished. (something easy to keep clean also)

Any idea how much a sliding wardrobe of these dimensions would cost. A standard type interior with plenty of shelving and hanging. 5 or 6 drawers and two of those tie/belt holders also. One mirror in the doors would be good too :) thanks!

How much would a 3 metre sliding wardrobe cost - ball park figure?
I want the doors and interior in a dark wood, maybe walnut & the middle door in a mirror.

Delighted with our sliding wardrobes

Postby byrnes_family » Wed Sep 08, 2010 12:31 pm

Hey, I just wanted to drop by and say how extremely pleased my family are with their new sliding wardrobes.

My sons and daughters love showing off their wardrobes to all their friends and now they have sooo much more space in their bedrooms. My wife and I dont know ourselves with the storage space created. We love how the dressing table and TV were incorportated into the wardrobe. The mirror doors brighten the whole house - unbelievably !!

All the sliding wardrobes really are stunning... big thanks from the Byrne family to the RobeDesign team in Kildare!
Would defooo recommend Robedesign to anyone looking for built in wardrobes ;)

Postby bernie10 » Wed Sep 08, 2010 12:47 pm

Is it possible to fit your sliding wardrobes in a council house box bedroom.. on the box over the stairs .. if so how much would it cost roughly for all mirror doors? And all shelving inside?
